We've been hard at work setting up for our Communi We've been hard at work setting up for our Community Art Show Grand Opening! Here's a closer look at one of the works in our collection; Mallards by artist Les Hummerston.

Les started painting and drawing at a young age and is mainly self taught. His love of nature and the outdoors is reflected in his art. Many of his paintings include birds, animals and fish and represent scenery that many people can relate to. Les has his own unique style for painting gouache, a form of watercolours, which results in an unusual and detailed effect.
Les does a lot of his own framing using old barn board and other materials that complement his works of nature.

Come and see Les' work and more on display at the Rectory from February 11th-25th!
There's just one week left until our Community Art There's just one week left until our Community Art Show Grand Opening! Come by on Saturday afternoon or visit us February 11th-25th to see Brandi Shabaga's "The Good Life" and more in person!

Brandi Shabaga is a contemporary mixed media artist and earth scientist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Her research has taken her across the globe – from the Canadian Arctic to the Gobi Desert – fueling her passion for cultural experiences and supplying endless inspiration for her artwork. While working primarily in acrylic paint, plaster, and gel mediums, she also enjoys experimenting with her art and loves incorporating elements of monoprinting, collage, and photography.
With a love for nature sparked at a young age, Shabaga was inspired to pursue a career dedicated to studying, understanding, and doing her part to protect the amazing planet we all call home. In 2020, she started looking for a way to offset the carbon footprint of her art practice – collage was the answer. Using recycled paper materials to create works of art not only results in a wonderful aesthetic, it makes for a powerful message as well.
